Terrace & Roof Deck Waterproofing on the Gold Coast
A terrace or roof deck is the same problem as a balcony with the scale turned up: more area, longer falls to fewer drains, and more things penetrating the membrane. The National Construction Code treats them alike, requiring a roof, balcony or podium to carry a membrane designed and installed in accordance with AS 4654.2 (NCC 2025 Volume One, F1D7).

What balcony waterproofing on the Gold Coast actually involves
Area changes the engineering. A large deck moves more water to each outlet, so falls have to be right across the whole surface rather than merely present, and ponding that would be trivial on a small balcony becomes a standing load on a terrace.

Getting a large deck right
Penetrations multiply too — planters, service risers, balustrade posts, air-conditioning plinths, light fittings. Each is a detail the membrane has to be dressed around, and details are where roof decks fail. It is the reason drainage belongs in the scope rather than being assumed: NCC 2025 requires a concrete roof, balcony or podium to have a drainage system with overflow provision and a substrate graded to a minimum fall of 1:80 (F1D4).
On this coast a roof deck is a full-sun surface. UV is the load that never stops, and a membrane specified without regard to exposure will fail from above as readily as from below.
What balcony waterproofing costs on the Gold Coast
A roof deck is priced from its area, its falls and its outlets, and only an inspection can count them. The government figure to hold a quote against is QBCC's $3,300, the value above which a licence is required. See the pricing page for the rest.
The fees, thresholds and cost drivers that shape a quote are on the pricing page. A firm price comes from a site visit — call (07) 5638 5808 or use the quote form.

Terrace & Roof Deck Waterproofing on the Gold Coast — common questions
Is a roof deck priced like a balcony?
Not by the same rules of thumb. Area, access and the number of penetrations are what move the number, and only an inspection counts them.
What is a trafficable membrane?
A membrane specified to be walked on as the finished surface rather than covered by tiles. It suits a deck that is used, and it is a different look and maintenance cycle to tiling.
Do the drains need work too?
Often, and it is worth having in the scope rather than discovering it. A membrane dressed perfectly into an undersized or badly placed outlet still leaves water on the deck.
